KALDEWEI, Ahlen, August 2024 – 152 rooms and apartments, two restaurants, a café and unique conference rooms including a historic theatre hall – the Grand Hotel in the Polish university and industrial city of Łódź has been synonymous with prestige and elegance for 135 years. After a complete renovation in 2023, it has been adapted to the current requirements of a five-star hotel. When it came to equipping the bathrooms, the hotel management made a conscious decision in favour of the premium manufacturer KALDEWEI.
The enamelled KALDEWEI products match perfectly with the marble finish of the Grand Hotel’s new bathrooms. They are equipped with Miena washbowls and Meisterstück Emerso bathtubs. The washbowls designed by Anke Salomon impress with their delicate design and give the bathroom furnishings a particularly elegant touch. The same goes for the free-standing bathtubs from the Emerso series, which the internationally acclaimed design star Arik Levy designed for KALDEWEI. Levy has created a collection that, like bathroom sculptures, impresses with its seemingly endlessly flowing shapes. As a single-seater bathtub, the Meisterstück Emerso is a luxury that you have all to yourself. Ergonomics and design are one in this free-standing bathtub. The flowing design with its undulating bathtub edge naturally creates a comfortable head area, the tapered, fully enamelled outer shape emphasises the sculptural character and gives the object the grace of a modern work of art.
Synonym for prestige and elegance
The entire bathroom design is harmoniously integrated into the overall concept of the Grand Hotel. In the course of the renovation, extraordinary attention to detail was paid to restoring this place to its reputation as a synonym for prestige and elegance as well as an architectural jewel, as it has been since its foundation in 1888. All rooms and apartments are individually designed. They feature textured ceilings, frescoes and original 19th-century details. The main materials are solid oak and walnut, but natural stone, glass and patinated brass are also used. There are also custom-woven curtains and bedspreads. In addition, a wellness and spa area with swimming pool will offer guests a luxurious stay.
The new Grand Hotel Łódź is the result of the teamwork of talented architects and artists, including Grażyna Grzybek and Dariusz Maryszewski. Under the leadership of the investor Holding Liwa, they have managed to give the traditional building in the heart of Łódź a new, promising glamour.
